The fallen leaves which adorn the jacket of Lanterna's sophomore effort, Elm Street, perfectly evoke the rainswept melancholy of Henry Frayne's glistening soundscapes -- the record's autumnal beauty and ineffable sadness capture the passage of time in exquisite detail. After a cursory listen it might be tempting to file the record in the new age bins, but Frayne's efforts are instead much closer in spirit to the ambient work of Michael Brook and Harold Budd -- his expansive, psychedelic guitar textures and Colin Koteles' dramatic drums are too epic and too moving to pass for mere aural wallpaper.
